Henna in Hair

As a professional hair expert, I don’t recommend using henna—even though it’s often seen as a “natural” alternative. Here’s why:

  1. Unpredictable Results
Henna coats the hair shaft with a stain-like layer, making color results extremely unpredictable.
  2. Incompatibility with Professional Color & Treatments
Henna creates a barrier that prevents other color or chemical treatments from working properly.
  3. Difficult to Remove
Henna is permanent—it doesn’t fade like regular dye. Color correction becomes very difficult, and you may be stuck with it until it grows out.
  4. Not All Henna is Pure
Many henna products contain metallic salts or other additives that can interact badly with salon color.
  5. Dryness and Brittleness Over Time
Henna may feel soft at first, but it builds up over time, making hair stiff, dry, and less able to retain moisture.

What Is Box Color?

Box color is a type of hair dye that’s pre-packaged for at-home use.

Why Box Color Isn’t the Best Option

  1. Stronger, Harsher Chemicals
It contains PPD (para-phenylenediamine), which can lead to:
    • Dryness and brittleness
    • Breakage
    • Porosity issues (your hair becomes like a sponge—absorbing too much color in some places and not enough in others)
  2. Difficult to Correct
Box color is notoriously difficult to remove or fix.

So, what’s the Better Alternative?

Professional color is customized just for you. You’re not just paying for color—you’re investing in the health and future of your hair.

Why We Don’t Work on Clients with Lice (Pediculosis Capitis)

  1. Health & Safety Standards
Salons must follow strict sanitation rules to protect clients and staff. Lice are highly contagious and can spread to:
    • Other clients
    • Our tools and equipment
    • Our stylists and their families
It’s a violation of health codes to perform services on someone with lice.
  2. Salon Products Aren’t Designed to Treat Lice
We use professional-grade shampoos and treatments, but they are not designed to eliminate lice or nits (lice eggs).

What We Do Recommend

  • We’ll stop the service immediately—but discreetly and with compassion.
  • We’ll guide you to proper treatment options.
  • Once lice are fully treated and cleared, we’d love to welcome you back.
