Senior Stylist Job Duties:

A senior stylist typically has a wide range of responsibilities, which can include: Providing recommendations on styles and products that will be most beneficial to clients based on their hair type, condition, and style desires Maintaining inventory of supplies such as shampoo, conditioner, hair color, and other products used in salons

Applying chemical services such as coloring, relaxing, or straightening hair

Performing shampooing and conditioning services on clients to prepare hair for styling

Providing consultation services to clients regarding cut and color options based on their lifestyle needs and preferences

Cleaning workstations between appointments to ensure sanitation standards are met

Demonstrating proper shampooing, cutting, and styling techniques to clients

Educating clients about product use, hair care instructions, and maintenance of their style

Consulting with clients on style choices to meet their needs and preferences

Senior Stylist Job Requirements:

A senior stylist typically needs the following qualifications:

Education: Most senior stylists have at least a high school or Graduation. Some senior stylists choose to pursue a cosmetology program to gain the skills and knowledge they need to advance their careers. A cosmetology program typically takes nine months to complete and includes both classroom instruction and hands-on practice.

Training & Experience: Senior stylists typically receive on-the-job training from their previous employer. This training helps them learn the specific products and services the salon offers and the best ways to provide them. Senior stylists may also receive training in the salon’s policies and procedures, such as how to handle cash and how to interact with clients.
